Self Assessment returns

Self Assessment for taxi drivers in Belfast & Northern Ireland

From your first HMRC registration to a filed return - handled for self-employed taxi, PHV and private-hire drivers across Belfast and Northern Ireland.

Included on Bronze, Silver and Gold monthly plans.

Self Assessment is the backbone of tax for self-employed taxi drivers. Whether you drive a Belfast black taxi, a private-hire vehicle, or take jobs through apps, HMRC expects a clear picture of what you earned and what you spent - and a return filed on time.

Tax for Taxi Drivers handles the full process for drivers across Belfast and Northern Ireland: registration, income and expenditure accounts, the tax calculation, and submission to HMRC.

Who this is for

  • Newly licensed drivers who need to register as self-employed for the first time
  • Drivers who have filed before but want someone else to own the paperwork
  • Drivers catching up on late or missing returns
  • Anyone moving onto Making Tax Digital who still needs a clean annual return in the meantime

What’s included

On every monthly plan we:

  • Register you for Self Assessment (if you aren’t already)
  • Register you as our client with HMRC
  • Supply an income & expenditure recording system
  • Prepare and submit your Self Assessment tax return
  • Prepare your income & expenditure account
  • Give you copies of both the return and the account
  • Provide tax-saving recommendations based on how you actually work

Silver and Gold add extras such as HMRC tax checks, pension forecasts, MTD returns, and telephone support - see full pricing.

Why local matters

Taxi work in Belfast and across NI has its own patterns: shift work, mixed cash and card, vehicle costs, licensing renewals, and platform income. We build returns around how drivers here actually earn - not a generic self-employment template.

Deadlines that matter

Online Self Assessment is due by 31 January following the end of the tax year. Miss it and interest and penalties can stack quickly. If you’re unsure where you stand, ring for a confidential chat before the deadline, not after.

Next steps

Pick a monthly plan, or start with a free consultation. If a mate needs the same help, our referral scheme pays you £50 when they join.

Common questions

FAQs

Do I need Self Assessment if I drive for Uber, Bolt or a Belfast taxi firm?

If you're self-employed - including most PHV and private-hire drivers - you usually need to register for Self Assessment and file a return each year. We register you with HMRC and prepare the return for you.

Can you help if I've never filed a tax return before?

Yes. We register you for Self Assessment, set up your records, and submit your first return. First consultations are free and confidential.

Do you work with drivers outside Belfast?

We're based in Belfast and work with drivers across Northern Ireland. We can also help drivers further afield by phone and email.
